Aircell, the world's leading provider of inflight connectivity, today announced the appointment of Norman Smagley as the new Chief Financial Officer. Smagley joins the Itasca, Illinois based company September 7.

Smagley brings sixteen years of broad-based CFO experience across many industries, including technology, financial services, pharmaceutical, retail, industrial and publishing companies, ranging in size from Fortune 25 to pre-IPO. Smagley has operated as CFO within both public and private-equity owned companies and has successfully managed bank, Wall Street, rating agency, auditor and board relationships. Most recently, Norm was with Rand McNally as SVP & Chief Financial Officer.

"We are privileged to welcome Norman to our team," said Michael Small, President and CEO of Aircell.  "Norm will consistently challenge and bring forth new ideas and recommendations as we enter the exciting next phase in our growth as a company."

Having just equipped their 1,000th plane, Aircell's Gogo Inflight Internet is now available on more than 3,800 flights daily, up from just 2,100 at this time last year.  Roughly one-third of all mainline domestic aircraft now offer Gogo's Inflight Internet service.

With Gogo, passengers can browse the Web; access online music, games and podcasts; send and receive e-mail; and connect to virtual private networks while flying. The easy-to-use service provides passengers with full Internet access on any Wi-Fi-equipped laptop or personal electronic device at speeds similar to wireless mobile broadband services on the ground.

About Aircell

Aircell® is the world's leading provider of inflight connectivity.  As winner of an exclusive FCC frequency license in 2006, Aircell has built a revolutionary mobile broadband network for commercial and business aviation.  In 2008, the Aircell Network and its inflight portal, Gogo®, revolutionized the commercial airline passenger flight experience by delivering a robust Internet experience at 35,000 feet.  In addition, the Aircell Network provides airlines with connectivity to operations and a path to enhanced cabin services such as video, audio, television and more.  A similar feature set is available to Business aircraft operators.  Aircell has facilities in Broomfield, Colorado, and Itasca, Illinois.  Aircell's vision is to give everyone the ability to stay in touch, in flight®.  For more information about Aircell, please visit www.aircell.com.

About Gogo

MEN Micro Inc., a world-renowned provider of embedded computing and I/O solutions for mission-critical industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications, now offers the 6U FPGA-based, triple-redundant A602 64-bit VMEbus single board computer (SBC) that employs a lock-step architecture keeping software development at a minimum.

(Photo:  http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20100903/PH59515 )

(Photo:  http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20100903/PH59515 )

With this redundant lock-step system that increases system reliability, the SEU-resistant A602 runs the same set of operations in parallel to ensure that the programming only views the hardware components once, making the new board ideal for mission-critical applications including those in the avionics and railway markets.

The single-slot, COTS-based A602 developed according to DO-254 offers incomparable reliability and economical implementation with high reliability up to Design Assurance Level (DAL) A (catastrophic) in avionics and up to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 4 in trains, the most stringent level in each class.

To ensure the highest safety standards, the 900 MHz PowerPC 750, the 512 MB main memory and the internal structure of the FPGA are triple-redundant.  Critical functions, like voters implemented as IP cores in the FPGA, monitor at least two of the three redundant components to provide the same result to guarantee system reliability.  In the event one of the three redundant components fails, the system remains completely operational providing the required availability for highly critical systems.

Other redundant components in the SBC include local PSUs, Flash memory and clock oscillators.  In an effort to increase safety and availability, additional diagnosis mechanisms (BITE, e.g. extensive self tests) help detect latent errors before they lead to a system error.  The design is oriented towards strictly deterministic operation for the same purpose - to avoid interrupts and DMA.

Standard I/O contained in the FPGA is accessible via the rear.  This includes a sextuple UART, an I(2)C bus and an RS232 interface that can also be led to the front.  The A602 also provides two PMC slots, one accessed via the front or rear I/O that can be used with all standard PMC modules and the other for an AFDX PMC connection via rear I/O.

Operating temperature is -40 degrees C to +50 degrees C with qualified components.

Pricing for the A602 is $12,994.  Delivery is six to eight weeks ARO.

AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), announced today that the airline will offer A+ Rewards members triple A+ Rewards credits when they purchase a round trip from Atlanta to any AirTran Airways nonstop destination through September 6, 2010.  AirTran Airways' frequent flier program A+ Rewards already allows travelers to earn free* flights faster than other airlines' loyalty programs -- and now Atlanta frequent fliers can reap the rewards three times as fast.

When A+ Rewards members purchase travel now through September 6, 2010, they will earn six A+ Rewards credits for every nonstop round trip originating in Atlanta and flown by November 17, 2010, instead of the standard two A+ credits.  The promotion makes it possible for members to earn a free* round-trip ticket when they purchase just three round-trip tickets with AirTran Airways. Sign-up is free* to become a member of the A+ Rewards program, and travelers must be A+ Rewards members and registered for the promotion at the time of departure to earn triple A+ credits through this offer.  Sign up for A+ Rewards and register for the promotion online at airtran.com before traveling.

"AirTran Airways is pleased to offer our Atlanta A+ Rewards members the chance to earn three times as many A+ credits for round-trip travel on our airline," said Tad Hutcheson, vice president of marketing and sales for AirTran Airways. "We recognize how loyal and committed our customers are and allowing them to earn free* flights fast and easy is just one of the many ways we say thank you for flying AirTran Airways."

AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI) and a Fortune 1000 company, has been ranked the number one low cost carrier in the Airline Quality Rating study for the past three years.  AirTran Airways is the only major airline with Gogo Inflight Internet on every flight and offers coast-to-coast service on North America's newest all-Boeing fleet. Our low-cost, high-quality product also includes assigned seating, Business Class and complimentary XM Satellite Radio on every flight. To book a flight, visit www.airtran.com

*Terms and conditions: Tickets must be booked from August 31, 2010, through September 6, 2010, and flown from August 31, 2010, through November 17, 2010. Round-trip purchase is required. Flight must originate in Atlanta (ATL). Valid only on nonstop itineraries. Must be a member of A+ Rewards and registered for the promotion prior to departure. Only valid on A+ Rewards credit-earning flights and may not be combined with any other A+ Rewards promotions or offers except the Business Class 1/2 A+ credit bonus. If any portion of the trip falls outside of the promotional period, bonus A+ credits will be awarded for only the portion within the promotional period. All terms and conditions of the A+ Rewards program apply. Retroactive A+ Rewards credits will not be granted. Bonus A+ credits earned with this offer do not qualify toward Elite status. A+ Rewards seats are subject to availability and blackout dates. Taxes and fees are extra - the September 11th security fee of up to $2.50 per segment is not included.
